- Always read the first post of the thread. You never know when there might be something special about the thread. IE, some places you can’t get to unless you have a special password.

- Just because the character is ignoring you doesn’t mean that the player is. There are some very moody characters out there that refuse to talk to anyone that chimes in on a private conversation. After all, eavesdropping is kinda rude.

- If you join a plot that has something special about it, you might wish to PM the creator of the plot to see if you need to do something unusual. Also, keep an eye on your PMs. They might PM you if you've missed something important.

- Separate yourself from your characters. Do not get mad at a player for their character trying to make your character mad. It's pretend. If you get mad at someone for doing something, you probably should spend a day away from Town to reacquaint yourself with reality. The person playing against you probably doesn't realize you're mad, because they know the difference between themselves and their characters.

- If you have any questions, don't be afraid to PM someone that's been here longer than you. We don't bite (hard.)

- On fighting:
There is no rolling. There is no system. You're on the honour system. You don't have to take every hit, but people will not want to play with you if their character can never touch you. It's all right to die. It happens to nearly every character. Death isn't permanent in Town unless you want it to be.
- Fighting gods:
- Fighting gods is no different than fighting anyone else. You just have to be a bit more creative, because chances are the hits you make won't have any effect on them unless your character is a professional god killer with special weapons. My suggestion is to look for a god's bane weapon at the Omnishop or to hire another character that makes such weapons. You won't match their strength, but it at least gives you a fighting chance. Lucky for you, most of the gods in the Town are good aligned and are unlikely to be the ones to start the fight. (Thanks to Wraith for the idea for tip #6.)

- On power levels:
The relative power level between two characters is an agreement between their players. Imposing superiority (or inferiority) upon another player is an excelent way of isolating yourself. However, avoid repeating how powerful/weak your character is. It grows annoying in very short order. (Thanks to Draken Frosthand for tip #7.)

- On continuity:
It is not particularly against the rules to break continuity (have your character in two places at once) but most frown upon it unless the character specified is tied up in a one-thread plot. (Thanks to Bookboy for the idea for tip #8.)
